Xander has a lifelong background in photography, mentoring and training. Having initially studied photography at Further Education level, he went on to work in retail management, and as an Outdoor Pursuits Instructor.
While completing a bachelor's degree at The Cambridge School of Art as a mature student, Xander undertook many assignments assisting high-end commercial photographers on shoots for prestigious global brands. He graduated with 1st Class honours in 2007.
Following a period as a high-street studio photographer, freelance wedding photographer, and teacher of photography and Photoshop, he went on to complete an MA in Photography in 2009. Artwork from his BA and MA projects received a degree of notoriety; published and featured in print media, exhibitions, advertising campaigns and on television internationally.
With his first child on the way Xander took a hiatus from photography spending five years in strategic partnerships and marketing. Redundancy then created the opportunity to blend being a stay-at-home dad with setting up again as a self-employed professional photographer. During this period he completed numerous private commissions which included gaining privileged access to photograph his clients’ weddings at the Palace of Westminster and The Royal Festival Hall amongst other impressive venues.
After a move into the photographic equipment trade and undertaking photography training as part of this role, Xander accrued hundreds of hours of photography tuition, teaching both novice and competent photography enthusiasts alike.
Currently Xander is undertaking a PhD in Photography, focussing on his personal work and providing private tuition for aspiring photographers.
